The Great Proptech Day – Time for Property Owners to Act

On April 10, the real estate and proptech industries will gather in Stockholm for the ninth edition of The Great Proptech Day. This event will cover trends, investments, and technological solutions for smarter property management. However, despite digitalization being on the agenda for real estate companies, the strategic insight required to take action is often lacking.

What does it really take for digitalization to transition from a trend to an integral part of business strategy? And why is digitalization perceived as a challenge when, in reality, it is the key to more efficient and profitable property management? These are questions that we at Allicon consider crucial to discuss at The Great Proptech Day. Eddie Ekberg, Head of Fastighetssverige, shares his thoughts ahead of the event.

What do you see as the common thread in the development of proptech?

"At its core, it’s about management—a modern form of management that we now call proptech. Digitalization and sustainability have become the major megatrends, and we’ve witnessed an enormous transformation over the past ten years. Previously, we wrote about digitalization in the real estate sector once a month—today, we write about it every day."

What challenges do property owners face in working more digitally and smartly?

"Unfortunately, it often comes down to a lack of knowledge at the strategic level. Many executives simply don’t know how to approach digitalization. At the same time, a non-digital property is an unsustainable property—there is no longer a choice. If properties are not updated digitally and technically, they will only become costly and difficult to sell."

What is needed for proptech to take the next step?

"We need uniformity and standardization. Today, there are many systems, players, and different interests. For digitalization to be truly effective, the industry must reach a consensus and create solutions that work together. It’s high time to start assessing operations and developing a strategy."

How do you see AI’s role in the real estate sector?

"AI development is moving incredibly fast. The problem is that many property owners don’t understand how to utilize AI. They haven’t even taken the basic course. As long as AI isn’t a natural part of business strategy, nothing will happen. It’s time to get started!"

What do you hope participants will take away from The Great Proptech Day?

"Two things: aha moments—learning something new that can be applied directly in business—and new connections that can lead to business opportunities," concludes Eddie Ekberg.

Allicon on Site – Taking the Discussion Further

At Allicon, we know that property owners must take digitalization seriously for their properties to remain attractive and sustainable. We work daily to connect properties, enabling smart and efficient solutions—and of course, we will be present at The Great Proptech Day. We will also participate in a panel discussion on the investment landscape in the proptech sector.

See you on April 10!
