Patrik Sivermalm has great ambitions
The sky is the limit for Awiwos CEO Patrik Sivermalm.
A challenger in twireless communications. That’s how CEO Patrik Sivermalm describes Awiwo. Now he wants to use that experience to work with Allicon to build a stronger and broader offering in the connected infrastructure of the future. The acquisition further strengthens Allicon’s radio expertise—while enabling the companies to jointly take on greater end-to-end responsibility for building connectivity.
Patrik Sivermalm has a background at Ericsson and has brought much of the company’s way of working into Awiwo. Clear processes, cost awareness and the ability to bring together the right expertise and partners have been key elements in building the company. Awiwo has developed into a specialist in wireless connectivity, with solutions including mobile coverage, WiFi and other wireless technologies.
“We have always seen ourselves as a challenger. Awiwo has dared to challenge established ways of working and find new approaches, and many people perceive us as being larger than we actually have been.”
He describes Awiwo as a systems integrator rather than a traditional supplier. Its own core expertise is combined with a network of partners and suppliers to create the right solution for each customer in a cost-effective way.
Awiwo strengthens Allicon’s radio expertise
Patrik Sivermalm sees a clear connection between Awiwo and Allicon.
“Allicon already has strong expertise in radio and connectivity. With Awiwo, we strengthen that expertise even further while also broadening our ability to take responsibility for the entire solution.”
For him, the combination is about more than simply adding another offering. It is about bringing together expertise that can provide property owners with a better overall solution.
“Connectivity is a fundamental part of a building’s infrastructure. Once it is in place, a wide range of other services can be added, such as digital screens, booking systems and cameras. We want to be able to offer an entire ecosystem.”
From multiple systems to an end-to-end offering
According to Sivermalm, one of the major challenges facing property owners today is managing a growing number of technical systems and suppliers.
“Today, many property owners have ten or more different systems that they need to keep track of. We want to be a partner that can take greater overall responsibility.”
Together, Allicon and Awiwo can provide a more integrated delivery – from analysis, design and technical solutions to implementation, operations and long-term management. For property owners, this means fewer interfaces and one partner capable of taking responsibility throughout the entire process.
“As part of this development, the ability to offer financed solutions is also becoming increasingly important.”
A changing market
Patrik Sivermalm sees significant opportunities ahead, particularly as technology and the requirements placed on building infrastructure continue to evolve. 5G, increased security requirements and the need for robust communications are changing how property owners need to think about their infrastructure. For public-sector properties and other mission-critical environments, secure, redundant and reliable communications are particularly important.
At the same time, he sees major differences between customers.
“Property owners work with longer cycles than those of us in technology-intensive industries, and they are also at very different stages of digital maturity. Some have come a long way, while others are still working with older solutions. That means we need to meet customers where they are and build from there, based on their specific circumstances. Responsively, flexibly and quickly.”
“We will become a player to be reckoned with”
The ambitions for what is now being built together with Allicon are high.
“We want to build an offering that can compete with those of the larger players, while retaining our ability to be faster, more innovative and closer to the customer.”
With their combined expertise, the goal is to position Allicon as a unique end-to-end provider of connected infrastructure – with the ability to take greater responsibility, from needs assessment and planning to a complete solution and ongoing operations.
“We want to become a significant player and help drive this market forward. Our ambition is to be a leader. We are starting in Sweden and the Nordics – and then we’ll see how far we can take it.”
