Allicon & 6G: How We Are Helping Shape the Future of Communications

Proptech Day 2026 in Stockholm.

What will communications look like in ten years – and what decisions need to be made today to be ready for it? To help answer those questions, Allicon is participating in NextG2Com, a national competence center funded by Vinnova, where academia, industry, and the public sector collaborate to develop the communications infrastructure of the future.

Program: Vinnova / NextG2Com
Period: 2023–2028
Coordinator: Lund University Faculty of Engineering (LTH)

"The infrastructure decisions made today will determine whether our customers’ properties and operations are ready for what’s coming in ten years. Being part of NextG2Com is not just about keeping pace with technological development – it’s about helping shape it, based on the realities we encounter every day," says Andreas Boo, CEO of Allicon.

What is NextG2Com?

NextG2Com brings together leading research on next-generation communication systems – the infrastructure that will ultimately lay the foundation for 6G.

The focus is on integrating communications with AI, machine learning, sensors, and advanced positioning technologies into comprehensive intelligent systems.

Research with Real-World Relevance

The center now has more than 120 members, 19 active PhD candidates, and 53 scientific publications produced during 2025. The research is also validated through practical demonstrators where theory meets real-world applications.

This strong connection between research and practice is precisely what makes NextG2Com relevant to Allicon and our customers.

Why Allicon Is Involved

We contribute practical insights into how future communication technologies need to function in real buildings, healthcare environments, industrial facilities, and property portfolios.

"What makes NextG2Com unique is that the research does not stop at theory – it is validated against real-world use cases. For us at Allicon, that is exactly what we need: insights grounded in the challenges our customers actually face," says Mickael Lauritsen, Head of Radio at Allicon.

“The Right Fiber Network, the Right Architecture, and the Right Mindset from the Start”

Next-generation communications will enable AI-assisted diagnostics, medical IoT solutions, automation, smart manufacturing, and more resilient digital properties. However, this requires the right network infrastructure from the outset.

"6G is not about replacing what we build today – it is about creating a foundation that is ready when the next step arrives. The right fiber network, the right architecture, and the right mindset from the start make the difference between a property that lasts ten years and one that lasts thirty," says Mickael Lauritsen.

We are proud to be part of a community where Sweden’s leading communications researchers and industry partners work together. This makes us better equipped to support our customers – both today and in the years to come.
