How Allicon builds the fiber property networks of the future
David Wilson works as a Project Manager at Allicon.
As the demand for stable connectivity increases, connectivity is becoming a strategic issue for property owners. David Wilson, Project Manager at Allicon, describes how the work on a modern fiber property network begins long before installation.
Many commercial properties today have several older networks from different providers—often without proper documentation. The result is a fragmented infrastructure that requires patchwork fixes. That is why Allicon always establishes a structured, unified fiber property network that serves as the foundation for all digital services within the building.
Planning: designing the digital backbone
After an initial analysis, Allicon’s technical team designs how the fiber will be routed, where nodes will be placed, and how redundancy and security will be built in. The network is designed to last for many years and to be ready for future technologies such as IoT, smart systems, and private 5G networks. Once the design is complete, the installation begins.
“An important part of our work is ensuring structure and quality at every step. A network that is correctly installed from the start saves a great deal of work in the future”, says David.
All documentation is collected in Allicon’s platform, PropView, where technicians register installations directly on site.
“The system becomes a digital twin of the property’s network and gives the property owner a complete overview of the infrastructure and service history.”
Allicon then supports property owners when new tenants move in or when digital solutions are added. The fiber property network serves as a platform for, among other things, WiFi solutions, operator-neutral 5G networks, as well as IoT and sensor networks.
Connectivity – a strategic investment
For many tenants, digital infrastructure is now a decisive factor when choosing premises. David believes that property owners increasingly see connectivity as a strategic investment.
“We are essentially building the infrastructure for the digital properties of the future.”
